Notes
General
This was an all grain kit provided by Pete for the home new clubs Christmas party raffle. It was a 3 bag kit of grain, hops, yeast and came with a full set of instructions to do a brew in a bag one gallon.
Targets:
Original Gravity: 1.050 SG
Final Gravity: 1.011 SG
ABV: 5.1%
IBU: 19.57
SMR: 14.48
Mash ph: 5.71
Mash
Mashed in at 68c dropped to 57c over the hour mash in the pot.
1.5L of boiling water add at 60 mins raised the temp to 67c, which was well under the mash out temp of 76c.
Heated the sparge water to 76c and pored over the bag once it was held in a colinder.
Boil
No issues during the boil, the pot was quite full and needed to be kept an eye on.
Fermentation
In the Fermenter for 3 weeks to make sure it fermented out.
This was over pitched with yeast it had a large yeast cake on the bottom.
Also finished up really high not sure why.
Packaging
Forgot what a pain it is to bottle from a carboy, a fair bit of the yeast came through to the first couple of bottles.
Tasting
This has ended up really much sweater than I would have expected, could be down to trying to going back to using the stove again.
Also the yeast is quite aggressive and this has ended up a bit over carbonated, it his was using one coopers carbonation drop per 500 ml bottle.
